Paris would not be Paris without the Eiffel Tower. It is the premier attraction for the city and draws in millions of tourists per year. Today I was one of them.
When I first saw the tower a few years back, I was taken aback by how large it was. The size was much bigger than I expected, and so were the lines to make it to the top. Making it to the top was one of my desires on this trip, but the lines were easily two hours of waiting which was time we simply did not have.
As I glanced around the crowd, every one else was wearing black or gray jackets. Keeping with my mission of bringing Texas to France no matter how annoying it might be, I was wearing my shirt of the state flag of Texas. As expected, I got quite a few stares and random comments from people.
One unintended side effect of dressing like an extreme tourist in France is my inability to barter with vendors. Normally this is my favorite thing to do, but when you stick out all the time, it is impossible to get a bargain.
